SONGWRITERS: Worship

Whatever your style or focus of songwriting we welcome you to join us as we are bringing together songwriters, starting at 6.30pm in the Green Room at Church of the City (look for signs in the lobby).

A number of you have requested a songwriters night where we give you a fun challenge in writing a ‘worship song’. Well, your request has been answered!

On this night, we are going to give you some tools to work in groups of 2 or 3 and write a verse & chorus to a worship song. You will have 1 hour to do this. When we return we’ll share how we found the experience and some of the song ideas that emerged.

If you play acoustic guitar you are welcome to bring your instrument.

We will have a couple of keyboards available. If you would like to bring your own keyboard/amp you are welcome to do so. Just let us know by emailing artscollective@journeyfranklin.com.

Dream. Risk. Create.

This Songwriters Session is free and open to any songwriter who wants to come.

More Than We Know

  • Journey Franklin @ Church of the City (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Finley Eversole, in The Politics of Creativity, writes:

In our society, at the age of five, 90 percent of the population measures "high creativity." By the age of seven, the figure has dropped to 10 percent. And the percentage of adults with high creativity is only two percent! Our creativity is destroyed not through the use of outside force, but through criticism, innuendo...

Tonight we are going to discuss the opportunity we have as artists to reconnect with the high creativity that exists in all of us. An excerpt from a documentary on one of the worlds great artists will stimulate our conversation as we consider the kind of environment that leads to creative revelation and us discovering we are more than we know.
